Marilla is a third-year student at Dalhousie University, completing a BSc in Neuroscience. She joined Dalhousie University’s Language and Literacy Lab as a volunteer in November of 2021. In April of 2022, she was awarded the John. R. Dingle Undergraduate Summer Research Award to complete an internship in the Language and Literacy Lab under the supervision of Dr. Helene Deacon. Through this internship, she supports data collection for the Leaps and Bounds: From Reading Words to Understanding Texts study as well as the Shared Reading and Punctuation Knowledge study. Marilla is eager to expand her knowledge of experimental psychology research and how it links to areas in cognitive neuroscience, as well as connect her interests in childhood literacy with her academic goals.
