Sophia is a postdoctoral fellow at the Dalhousie University, working on the projects of “The Power of Children’s Learning in Their Reading” and “Leaps and Bounds: From Reading Words to Understanding Texts”, under supervision of Hélène Deacon. She is interested in children’s literacy development and especially how morphological mechanisms and orthographic learning support reading development. In her dissertation, she investigated the pathways through which morphological awareness and orthographic knowledge link to reading fluency, exploring the mediating role of phonological awareness, vocabulary, and processing speed and how these pathways differ in students with and without dyslexia.
