Christina studies the relationships between language and music by comparing the acoustic and cognitive differences between speaking and singing. Lately, she’s been using EEG to see how the rhythms of music could be leveraged to benefit speech processing. She examines how neural tracking of speech syllables is related to language outcomes in children with and without reading deficits, and most recently in infancy. She hopes that her work will help identify infants at-risk for language and reading disabilities early in development, so that interventions can be put in place as early as possible.
