Mariam is a PhD student in Clinical psychology at Dalhousie University under the supervision of Dr. Hélène Deacon. Her research focuses on assessing children’s understanding of syntactic complexity in both the oral and written domains across the elementary and middle school years. Currently, she is also investigating the impact of school closures and mandated homeschooling during the COVID-19 pandemic on family wellbeing. She is passionate about using scientific research to promote children’s literacy development and help inform clinical practice and recommendations for children with neurodevelopment disorders.
