Ashley Farris-Trimble

Associate Professor of Linguistics

Simon Fraser University

Ashley Farris-Trimble’s research interests center around how sound systems are learned, both by children and by adults learning second or subsequent languages. She uses experimental methods like eyetracking and artificial language learning to study how theoretical linguistic concepts guide real-world learning. Ashley directs SFU’s Phonological Processing Lab and holds grants from SSHRC to study phonological learning in bilingual Mandarin/English speakers and children learning Canadian English.
