Emily Byrd is a Fulbright-Mitacs Globalink Research Intern under the supervision of Hélène Deacon. She is currently working with the Language and Literacy Lab at Dalhousie University on the Leaps and Bounds Project as a research assistant. The focus of the research she is assisting with is how children’s oral language skills support reading development in the elementary grades. Emily hopes that this research will be beneficial for educators, parents, and students as literacy is vital to the educational experience.
