Before her time at Dalhousie, Laura obtained her honours psychology degree at the University of New Brunswick. Her honours thesis examined individual factors associated with adolescent’s intentions to avoid seeking help. Laura is currently a master’s student in experimental psychology at Dalhousie University, and is completing a directed reading course with the Language and Literacy Lab. Her research aims to understand the impact of parent substance use and substance-related problems on child mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic, and how these relationships may be affected by the amount of time a child was homeschooled due to COVID-19. Laura is passionate about healthy child development, family impact, and accessible school-based interventions for children with learning difficulties and neurodevelopmental disorders.
