Laura Elliott

First Year Master's Student

Dalhousie University

Laura is beginning her first year of the MSc in Experimental Psychology program at Dalhousie University. She will be completing her Masters under the supervision of Dr. Aaron Newman, in the NeuroCognitive Imaging Lab. With the support of Dr. Newman, the research team, and the Ensuring Full Literacy Project, Laura will be performing research to better understand the factors that contribute to full literacy. The specific objective of this project is to characterize how individual differences in reading skills relate to patterns of brain activation in children. This project will take of advantage of both behavioural psychology and neuroimaging research techniques, to advance our understanding of how the neural representation of individual words relate to individual reading ability and its development during elementary school.
