Summer Research Assistant, Language and Literacy Lab

Dalhousie University

Shada is entering her second year of a BSc in Neuroscience at Dalhousie University. She joined the Language and Literacy Lab as a volunteer in October of 2021 and is currently working as a summer Research Assistant under the supervision of Dr. Hélène Deacon. She is involved in the Digital Literacy Project which investigates the skills that children use while reading digitally to examine how we can best support children’s digital understanding of text. She is also involved in the Leaps and Bounds Longitudinal study which investigates how children’s oral language skills support their reading development through elementary school. She hopes that educators and researchers will be able to utilize this research to support children’s language and literacy skills.
